Continue straight crossing the stream. Ahead is an island that used to be the location of a signal box on the railway line linking St Ives with Huntingdon, and before the days of the railway line as a loading area for river barges. The railway bridge used to cross the river Ouse at this point, passing to the left of the old Mill. Turn left across the stile and into the meadow. Veer right and walk down to the river for a view of the Bridge and quay. On the left you can see the bypass that has taken traffic away from the town centre since it was opened in 1980. Return across the stile and stream. Turn left into Wellington Street. Shortly you willpass the Oliver Cromwell Pub on your right.. | ![]() |
